CDC bottle bioassay

CDC bottle bioassays are used to assess the susceptibility of adult mosquitoes to an active ingredient (AI). Diagnostic doses have been established for multiple AIs and mosquito species. The test involves exposing adult mosquitoes to glass bottles that have been coated with specific doses of the AI for a specified exposure time and recording knockdown at the end of the test and/or subsequent mortality.

The CDC bottle bioassay setup can also be used to LC50s or LT50s of novel AIs.
